Biography[]
Kelsey is the famous producer of a reality television show titled Buddies or Broke. She is attending the wedding reception of Minister Silas Nda's daughter when two local men, Beast Buthelezi and Boetie de Wett, suddenly destroy the event in a racist brawl, which gives her the idea of putting the two in her own reality show.
Kelsey, along with Minister Nda, visits Boetie and Beast at the police station, charges the two with malicious property damage and peace disruption, and suggests that they both agree to some therapy. In addition, as punishment for their racist behavior, she informs the men that they have to walk all the way to Johannesburg, Gauteng.
At the start of their road trip, Kelsey informs Boetie and Beast that they follow the rules and cross the finish line together as friends. She then gives the two some money, kisses them both on the cheek, wishes them good luck and sends them on their way.
During the entire trip, Kelsey keeps a close and careful watch on Boetie and Beast while filming them on camera from inside her TV production van as the two get into a series of very unfortunate mishaps.
Later, when Boetie and Beast get closer to Gauteng, they find out from a local newspaper article that Kelsey has been watching the two make monkeys of themselves while filming them, and has also been making a fortune since the beginning. So they lure her inside a small metal shed and ask her to give them R1 million each in order to finish the trip they started.
During the conversation, Kelsey tries to make a deal with the two by offering them R50,000 each. But then the two get into a very heated argument, forcing Boetie to shoot Beast with a gun right in front of Kelsey. Boetie then accuses her of lying to them and leading them astray, and tells her that she wouldn't pay them R1 million, making her admit to him that she was just bargaining. Suddenly, she is shocked to realize that Beast was only playing dead because the gun contained blanks, and that she had been tricked by him and Boetie into giving them each R1 million.
Kelsey finally tells Boetie and Beast that this whole thing has gone far enough. She decides to change the rules and then announces that from now on, this is a race and that whoever gets to Johannesburg and crosses the finish line first will win the R2 million prize. She then forces the two men to run as fast as they possibly can all the way to the finish line and win the prize.
Just as Boetie and Beast make it to Johannesburg and cross the finish line together as best friends, Kelsey happily announces that it is a tie, and that they win the R2 million grand prize. She not only informs the two buddies that they will have to fight for her in order to claim her as the real prize, but also tells them that they are too clever for her.
